Catherine W. Gordon

Catherine W. Gordon, 79, went home to be with the Lord on May 23, 2018 with family by her side.  She was retired as a self-employed business owner, Gordon’s Interior, where she designed custom drapes for many dignitaries and churches in the local area for years.  Catherine was the Assistant Pastor at Jesus Church of Deliverance and Overseer of several ministries for 38 years.


She is predeceased by her parents, Robert Lee and Otelia Lorraine Whitaker, daughter, Wanda and sisters, Rosa Lee Davis, Annie Mae McCoy and Margaret Lassiter.  She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Vernon L. Gordon, Sr.; four children, Cynthia Benson (Larry), Valerie Wilson (Robert Jr.), Sherry Harris (Nelson) and Vernon Gordon, Jr.  One sister and brother, Mildred Cabarrus and Robert Lee Whitaker, Jr. (Barbara). Two sister-in-laws, Lillie Mae McCoy and Carolyn Gordon. A special son and daughter, Shawn Hedgespeth (Monica) and Sherry Gordon.  Eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
