Carrie O. Clark

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin, Carrie O. Clark entered eternal rest on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at her home in the care of her loving family.

Carrie was born in Portsmouth, VA to the late William Thomas Elliott and Blanche Delbridge on April 30, 1942. She was married to the late William Henry Clark and to this union there were two children, Eugene and Nicole.

She was educated in the Norfolk County School System (Chesapeake) and graduated from Crestwood High School in 1960. After graduation, Carrie moved to Brooklyn, New York where she was employed as a Bank Teller. She later met William Clark, affectionally known as “Willie” and they were married in 1963.

Carrie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Lamar Sharpe. In Brooklyn, New York she worshiped at First Baptist Church Crown Height. Upon returning to Portsmouth, VA, she reunited with Olive Branch where the present Pastor is Dr. Michael Williams.

Carrie loved to cook for her family and friends. During her early years in New York, she organized picnics in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park for her neighbors. She was also a loving caregiver to many children throughout her life.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her son Eugene Clark, Sr.; daughter Nicole Clark (Lisa) all of Brooklyn, New York; two granddaughters Ashley Clark of VA and Casey Clark of New York; one grandson Eugene Clark, Jr. of Georgia; two brothers Wilbert Elliott (Delores) and Roland Elliott (Helen) of VA; special niece/sister Cynthia Holmes (ELonzia); special nephew and niece George and Gertrude Booth, devoted tireless caregivers; special nieces Blanche McGowan (Johnny), Linda Elliott and Iris Walker (Marcellious, Sr.); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Carrie was preceded in death by her husband William H. Clark; five brothers George Thomas Elliott, William Elliott, Vernon Elliott, Oscar Elliott, John Lee (Bob) Elliott; four sisters Helen E. Dozier, Gracie Elliott, Ruby Jenkins and Marion Winfield.
