The earthly sojourn of CAROLYN LAVERN SESSOMS JENKINS began on February 16, 1973 in Norfolk, Virginia and it was made complete on April 6, 2019, as she transitioned from time into eternity. A devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend she was dedicated to her family and she cherished and embraced every moment with them. Carolyn especially loved her role as granny. She received the Lord at an early age and enjoyed singing in the children’s choir and serving on the usher board in her childhood church. Her formal education was received in the Norfolk Public School system, where she attended Lake Taylor High School.
In 1996, Carolyn’s dear friend Tam, whom she referred to as her sister, introduced Carolyn to the love of her life, Kenneth, and the couple married on August 21, 1998 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Kenneth and Carolyn moved their family to Dallas, Texas in 2011. In Texas, Carolyn worked in the healthcare industry for a brief time; however, her greatest love in life was taking care of her family and their home. She laughed often, lived well and loved much. A great cook, she enjoyed planning family meals and recipes on the phone with her mom. Carolyn had a vivacious personality and she enjoyed hanging out, barbequing and having a good time with her family and friends. She always made friends everywhere she went. Her most precious moments were Face Time conversations with “Granny’s Love Bug” (S’fari), as she called him. Her devoted service to the Lord continued at Ramp Church Texas in Fort Worth, Texas.
Yielding to the Providence of God, Carolyn was preceded in death by her grandfather Linwood Jones, her grandmothers Hazel Jones and Nola Carolyn Lindsey.
Those left to cherish the precious memories of her life and love is her loving husband, Kenneth Jenkins; sons Jonathan and Kenyatta Sessoms and Ayzion Jenkins (Dallas, Texas); daughter, Takeesha Morgan; parents Linwood and Cynthia Sessoms (all of Norfolk, Virginia); sister Vernita Smith (Hampton, Virginia); grandfather James E. Lindsey Sr. (Virginia Beach, Virginia); grandson, S’fari Morgan Norfolk, Virginia) and a host of other relatives and friends.

May 17, 2019 at 8:03 pmMay this dear family find much comfort in knowing we are praying or you all. We remember Carolyn as she was a just a little girl visiting Mount Zion Baptist Church with her beloved Grandmother,
Sister Hazel Jones. It was wonderful to she her when she was in Norfolk for her Grand Mother, Mrs. Lindsey’s, Homegoing Celebration. To see how she had developed into a loving wife and caring mother was such a blessing.

Which gives us the wonderful promise of God wiping out every tear from our eyes and death being no more. I hope this promise from Jehovah will truly bring your family much comfort at this time.
