Carolyn J. Guilford

Carolyn J. Guilford of 408 Lamp Post Drive, Chesapeake, VA and formerly of 948 Hannah Street, Norfolk, VA, gained her wings on Wednesday afternoon August 5, 2021 at Maryview Heart Hospital.

Born in the Lambert’s Point neighborhood, she was the daughter of the late Melvin J. and Maude H. Davis. She was also predeceased by her husband of 20 years, Douglas Guilford; brother, Melvin B. Davis; nephew, Donald Larrimore, Jr. and a brother-in-law, Curtis Parker.

She was a member of Rock Church and attended Mount Pleasant Baptist Church when her health permitted. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1962 and attended Norfolk State College for two years.

Carolyn worked as a nurse for Senior Corp and as a beautician at Delreese Styling World.

Survivors include her sisters Eunice Delreese Parker and Mabel Larrimore (Donald, Sr.); nieces, Ciara Z. Larrimore, Nancy Little, Kelli Chisolm (Harry), Renee Parker, Deiyuna Davis; LaQuesia Larrimore-Wilson (David); nephews, Geoffrey Larrimore, Melvin Davis (Michelle), Anthony Davis (Tesha) and Donald Larrimore III; loving cousins, Marjorie Bester (Mike), James Simons (Judith), Michelle Bester; sister-in-law, Isabel Davis; dedicated neighbor, Georgia Jones and loving friends, Shirley Farmer and Ruth Cheeks and a host of relatives and friends.

    My prayers go to Delrese, Mabel, and the entire family during this time. I remember the many days I spent at Aunt Maude’s home with you all. You were always loving, giving, kind, and generous with your love. Carolyn will indeed be missed.
