Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend Carmelita Annie Scott went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 27, 2018 after an extended illness. She was born to the late Julius and Lenora Roberts. She was married to Raymond A. Scott, Jr. to that union they raised nine children. A native of Norfolk, Virginia, she attended Saint Mary’s Catholic School and Tidewater Community College. For many years Carmelita was a house wife and dedicated to raising her children until the youngest child graduated from high school. She worked for the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) for twenty-five years as a counselor of ministry. Carmelita was kind, compassionate and an affectionate woman. Her interests were family, gardening and reading her Bible. She loved to cook. She devoted much of her time and energy to serving others. Although she was a woman of small stature, she gave us all such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life.
Carmelita is survived by four sons; Lopez M. Scott (Armentta), Portsmouth; Fernandez Scott, Northern Virginia; Leonardo Scott, Portsmouth and Dayshawn Bryant, Virginia Beach, VA; three daughters; Collmetor Phillips, Mississippi; Romaunda Mitnaul (Earl), Virginia Beach; Michele Council, Pennsylvania; a host of grand and great-grand children, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A special thanks to her personal care givers, sister, Ms. LaBarbara Richardson and cousin, Mrs. Maxine Taylor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association National Headquarters, 225 N. Michigan
Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, Il 60601.
