On Monday, June 30, 2025, the Lord called Carla Elaine Bailey, our beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt, and cousin home.
Carla Elaine Bailey was born on October 6, 1971, to Percy Bailey Jr. and Gladys L. Bailey. Carla was a humble servant of the Lord and a member of New Jones Grove Baptist Church in Windsor, VA. She was a dedicated usher and worked in the Finance room. She graduated from Smithfield High School in 1990. She participated in many extracurricular activities, most notably running track. She worked in the administrative offices of Gwaltney Packing while attending High School. She went on to work for Bank of America and then General Nutrition Center (GNC), where she was a District Manager and remained there for 34 years. She went on to work as a Sales Supervisor for Bob’s Furniture Store in 2024 and remained there until her passing. She fully enjoyed working with Bob’s and quickly became a beloved and dedicated employee. Carla always believed in working hard.
Carla loved music, cooking, entertaining and decorating, beautifying her yard and loved serving and providing help and assistance to others. She loved the Lord. Carla often went out of her way to help others. She loved helping the elderly. She loved spending time with her family. Anytime we would leave each other after gathering, Carla would ensure she gave each of us a hug and say, “I love you.” She would also do things around the house for herself and others. She always told people she learned from watching her daddy. She was a kind, loving, outgoing, and good person.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her parents, Percy Bailey Jr. and Gladys L. Bailey; one son, Cedrick Bailey; two sisters, Shannon Bailey and Tracey Bailey; one brother, Anthony Bailey; one nephew, Phillip Bailey; three god brothers, Charles “Junie” Burden, Andre Burden, and Gregory “Gary” Burden; two god sisters, Wanda Burden-Barnes and Stacey Burden; one god niece, LaShanda Burden-Law; one god daughter Lamiya Law and a host of other relatives and friends.

July 9, 2025 at 4:22 amPrayers For Loss Of A Cousin
Oh Lord, it is always so hard to say good-bye to those that we love and care about, especially when we were close. I know that I am going to miss my cousin so much, and so are the rest of the family. And so Lord, I do pray that You would give each one of us Your comfort in our hearts at this time of such sadness.
Lord, I know that death is a thin veil of temporary separation for those that love You, and I thank and praise You that as Your children we will meet up again one day, but it is still hard to have to realise that we will never be together in this life again, so please flood all of our hearts with Your never-failing comfort and give us Your strength to move forward, knowing that You feel deeply for our loss and that You care for each one of us.
Thank You for the good times that we spent together, and help us to celebrate a lovely life rather than mourn a life that has passed. Help me to give You thanks for the great love we shared. Thank You for the life of my cousin and I pray that You would put Your loving arms of comfort around us all and draw every member of our wider family into a closer walk with You. In Jesus’ name I pray,
Amen.
