On Monday, July 8, 2019, Calvin L. Drew departed this life. He rested his eyes for the last time while surrounded by his beloved family at his Chesapeake home. Calvin, better known by many as “Bud” or “Lil Bud,” had many friends and loved ones. He was born on December 7, 1961 to the late William Major, Sr. and Queenie Elizabeth Drew. Calvin attended Norfolk Public Schools. He believed in working hard throughout his life. At the age of 18, he started working at NORSHIPCO as a sand blaster. After he left NORSHIPCO, he worked for Precon Marine as a sandblaster and painter as well. He embraced the Nation of Islam for over 20 years. After his love for the Nation of Islam, he started attending Philippians Church of Christ Holy Disciples where Pastor Emeritus Dr. Mary L. Woodhouse is overseer. He enjoyed the preached word of Jesus Christ and him crucified for our sins and the world. He witnessed with his Amens, hand claps, and Hallelujahs. He attended as long as his strength allowed him. One of his favorite sayings was “God is good.” Another one of his key beliefs in life was the importance and significance of family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Major, Sr. and Queenie Elizabeth (Perkins) Drew; 1 brother Michael N. Drew Sr. “Nook” and 1 sister in-law, Norine Drew. Calvin leaves to cherish his memory, his fiancé, Yvonne Williams, Chesapeake, VA; 1 son, Calvin L. Williams (LaRhonda), Norfolk, VA; his son’s mother, Bertha Williams, Norfolk, VA; 1 daughter, Calvette Harrell (Andre), Chesapeake, VA; his daughter’s mother Shelia White, Norfolk, VA; 1 step-daughter, (Kalvondra), Chesapeake, VA; 3 sisters and 2 brothers, Penelope Herron (Kenneth), Jacqueline Vincent (Anthony) both from
