Calvin Jerome Johnson was born to Wilson Robert Johnson and Vivian Alexander Johnson on March 10, 1949 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He attended Booker T. Washington High School in Norfolk, VA and honorably served in the United States Marine Corp where he was a combat engineer, a P.O.W. and Vietnam survivor, and a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal.
