On Monday April 25 while it was peaceful and quiet, God whispered into Brenda L. Morris ear, it is time to come home, my daughter. Therefore, He put a smile on her face, kissed her cheek, gently wrapped her in His arms, and carried her to her heavenly home.
Brenda was educated in Norfolk Public Schools, graduated from Booker T. Washington High School Class of 1971, and received her Bachelor’s Degree in History from Norfolk State University in 1995.
Brenda taught at St. Mary’ Academy in Norfolk, VA and Star of the Sea Catholic School in Virginia Beach for a total of over thirty years.
Her father and mother, Melvin and Geraldine James, preceded her in death. Brenda was the wife of LaMar S. Morris for 44 years.
Brenda was an active member of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority Inc. Alpha Chi Chapter for 19 years, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Upsilon Omicron Chapter for 16 years, Concerned Citizens of Booker T. Washington High School, and a member of the Praise Dance Team at New Calvary Baptist Church. Her interest and hobbies were collecting dolls (especially the Obamas) and tending to her flowers.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband 44 years, LaMar; a daughter, Cherwana Harris (Julius D.) of Woodbridge, VA; three sisters: Sarelda James-Green of Chesapeake, VA, Shelia Johnson (Joe) of Virginia Beach, VA, and Adriane B. James of Norfolk, VA; one brother, Keith James of Chesapeake, VA; two grandchildren: Reagan and Brayden Harris; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
