Bobbie Jean Melvin, 68, peacefully entered God’s Heavenly Kingdom on December 18, 2018 after a brief illness. She was the first-born child of the late Thomas E. Davis Sr. and late Dollie Mae Davis in Alcolu, SC and lived most of her life in Norfolk, VA. She is a 1969 graduate of Norview Senior High School where her love for helping others nourished. After earning her nursing license in 1980 from Central School of Nursing, Bobbie started her nursing career with Sentara at Norfolk General Hospital. In 1999, she moved to the authorization group in Optima Healthcare where she was able to help others from outside of the hospital. She always was willing to lend a helping hand to people in need. As a Deacon at Messiah Presbyterian Church, Bobbie started a healthcare ministry that offered free flu shots to the community. She is survived by her husband, Rudolph Melvin, Jr.; son, Terrance Melvin (Jacquia); brother Thomas E. Davis Jr. (Joyce); niece Urquida Davis; nephew Thomas E. Davis III; cousins: Seretha Bradley, Delthena Hicks (Harold), Thelma Benbow (General Le), Matthew Bradley (Edith), Laura Gaymon, Martha Johnson (EJ), and Mary Willis.
