Blanche H. Dixon was born on April 30, 1936 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Andrew and Matilda Harrell. She was raised on Percy Street along with her other siblings.
In June 1950 Blanche joined Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church under the Pastorate of Reverend J.Q.A. Lassiter. She was a faithful and committed member whose desire was to “serve”. She was always willing to give and do whatever she could to help and be of assistance. She was a former member of the Senior Choir and the Church Anniversary Committee. She was currently involved in the Maggie Walker’s Missionary Ministry, the Deaconess Ministry, the Hospitality Ministry, the USDA Food Ministry, Trustees Ministry and the ministry dearest to her heart, the Senior Ushers Ministry. On July 14th, 2018, she was bestowed the honor of Trustee Emeritus.
Blanche enjoyed listening to Gospel music, venturing to the casino, attending family functions, playing Bid Whist and watching sporting events. Everyone knew how loyal she was to her beloved Washington Redskins and Atlanta Braves. As she always stated “I got to get home and watch my ball game.”
On November 8th, Blanche was notified by her doctor to report to the hospital, but Blanche, being a faithful servant, reported to church. Blanche spent her last Sunday where her heart was; always in the presence of the Lord. One of her last tasks was to hand in vouchers to help feed many for Thanksgiving.
On November 17, 2019, Blanche (OUR MATRIACH) embarked to a Higher Plane, joining in spirit with her parents Andrew and Matilda, her siblings Lawrence Bagby Sr., John Harrell, William Harrell, Sylvia Brockington and Janice Gee, and one nephew James Bagby.

November 23, 2019 at 1:33 pmGod saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So, he placed his arms around you and whispered “Blanche Dixon come with me.” With tearful eyes, we watched and saw you pass away. Although, we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us… he only takes the BEST.
Rest until we meet again~Continue to Sail In Paradise–❤❤❤❤❤
