Bishop Levi Edgar Willis II, son of the late Bishop Levi E. Willis Sr. and Hortense Jones Willis of Norfolk, VA, transitioned on January 13, 2023. 

Bishop Willis served as Pastor of Garden of Prayer Worship Center – The Gateway to Good News and as Jurisdictional Prelate of the Virginia Third Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ. 

He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Judith Washington Willis, three children, Jasper M. Willis (LaTonya), Jonathan G. Willis Sr. (Felicia), Tiffani J. Willis, eight grandchildren, three sisters: Hortense E. Willis, Christine L. Willis, and Celestine Willis-Brown (Clyde); sister-in-law Yvonne Hawkins (Lawrence), a host of nephews, nieces, aunts, cousins, saints, and friends.

    I have much love and respect for the Willis family as the late Levi, the III was SGA president at Norfolk State University during my tenure as financial aid director. I enjoyed working with him as he displayed much love, care, and thoughtfulness.

    preach the gospel anywhere and everywhere. We worked hand in hand to spread the gospel over many radio stations
    together. He was always kind, and as most of you know, he
    always chose the best places to have lunch together:)
    I will miss him greatly.

    I am sorry to hear of Bishop’s passing. I regret not meeting this Man of God even though he is my Second Cousin and we are both Ministers of the Lord. I have been able to watch from a far on YouTube this mighty man of God and truly I can hear the Father say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant…”
