Betty M. Carlisle

Sunrise: October 3, 1946

Sunset: May 5, 2023

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved, Betty M. Carlisle, on May 5, 2023. She peacefully left this world, surrounded by her loving family, and has now embarked on her eternal journey. While we mourn her loss, we take solace in the cherished memories and the profound impact she had on our lives.

Betty Carlisle was born on October 30, 1946 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late James Jesse Brown and Mattie Cartwright-Ford. She was the eldest of three children.  She grew up in Bowling Brook, where she developed a deep appreciation for family, friends and the simple joys of life.

In 1967,  Betty married the love of her life, William Thomas Carlisle Sr and together they embarked on a beautiful journey that spanned 31 years until he sadly departed this world. Their love was an inspiration to all who knew them and served as the foundation of their close-knit family.  From this union 2 girls and 4 boys were raised.

Betty leaves behind a grieving family who will forever hold her in their hearts. She is survived by one sister Deborah Boone, 5 children Vita (Joseph) Kovaleski, Rolelian Carlisle, Basley (Samantha) Carlisle, Shermaine (Jenae) Carlisle, and Derrick (Eboni) Gilliam. She leaves a host of grandchildren Norman, Nykolis, Joel, Ashleigh, William, Jayla, Amiya, Shermain, Destanee, Dejah, Shane, and Dakota.  Although our loss is immeasurable, we find comfort in the knowledge that she is now reunited with her beloved husband William Thomas Carlisle, brother William “Bob” Ford, and son William “Lil Tom” Carlisle  and other loved ones who have gone before her.

A dedicated sister, mother, aunt, and grandmother, who poured her heart and soul into her family. She created a nurturing and loving environment, where everyone felt welcomed and cherished. Her home was filled with laughter, love, and a whole lot of tea.  She will be forever missed.
