On the morning of Saturday, October 19, 2024, God called Bettie to a place where peace and fulfillment reign and she answered, “Lord, I’m ready.” Bettie was a loving mother to her sons, a caring grandmother, and a loving and supportive great-grandmother. With an outgoing personality, she was a friend to all who met her, always helpful and encouraging, and just a sweetheart to all who came into her presence.

Later, she followed her mother, Lucille, to be a devoted member of New Macedonia UCC at 1426 Marshall Ave. in Norfolk. Bettie loved her family, and she loved the Lord, and was always physically and vocally active during worship services.

Bettie was predeceased by her husband Hugh Hamberry and grandson Sylvester Vincent McArthur, her parents John Scott and Lucille McAllister Scott Smallwood, and her stepfather Nathaniel Smallwood, Jr., brothers Sylvester Scott and Nathan A. Smallwood, Sr. She leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Sylvester Vincent Scott, James Antonio Scott Sr., and Cortez Portez Scott. 4 grandchildren Brandon, Jessica, James Jr., Stephon.
