Bette Ruth Bryant passed away on Monday August 26, 2024, peacefully at home. She was born on February 17, 1936 in Overton, Texas to Bud Howard and Josephine Daniels. Bette was one of nine siblings and the last remaining. She was affectionately known to her family as “Betsy”. Bette was married to H.B. Sr. for 72 wonderful years. They were married in San Diego, CA and shortly after made Virginia their home. Bette graduated from Kilgore Colored High School. She worked as a housekeeper for over 40 years taking care of and nurturing many families. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. “Betsy” loved flea markets, baking cakes and shopping at thrift stores. Selling items on Saturday’s was one of her favorite pastimes. She was an avid gardener, loved flowers and could make anything grow. Early on she prepped and cooked the food for the Assemblies. Bette was baptized November 23, 1968, and was one of Jehovah’s witnesses until her passing. Bette was very faithful in her ministry to Jehovah. Over the years she completed countless hours of street work and field ministry with many of her Sisters of the Kingdom Hall; for instance, Sister Settlers, Carolyn Brown, Bette Brown, Mary Wilkins, Carolyn McDonald, Sister Mosley, Vivian Shepard, Maggie Chalmers and Francine Spencer just to name a few. As well as bible studies and return visits. Through her guidance she helped several people to the truth, which included three of her own children. She enjoyed monthly meals and game nights with her family. Her laugh, wisdom and infectious behavior will forever be etched in our hearts. Her stories of growing up in Texas and walking to school are fond memories. To say she will be missed is an understatement.
Bette was preceded in death by Bud and Josie Howard and Avis Parker (daughter). She is survived by her devoted and caring husband H.B. Bryant Sr; children Charles Bryant (Yolanda), H.B. Bryant Jr. (Stella), Ruth Rawlings, John Bryant, Clarence Bryant (Taryn), Josie Bryant and Theodore Bryant (Pamela). She leaves to cherish her memories; grandchildren Toniettte Parker, Tony Parker Jr, Aleshia Kee, Tabatha Barber, LaToya Uzzle, Tashawna Shepard, Lakeysha Rawlings, Lisa Rawlings, Destiny Rawlings, Braxton Bryant, Courtney Bryant, Tristan Wells, Kierra Bryant, Shawn Bryant, Andre’ Everette, Robert Lamb, Ciara Johnson, Christina Shearin and a host of great grandchildren.
