Bessie “Pat” Craig, daughter of the late George E. Williams, Sr. and Florence E. Williams, was called home to glory on Sunday, September 20, 2020 in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her loved ones.

Pat was born on January 21, 1941 in Baltimore, Maryland. Pat graduated from Frederick Douglas High School in Baltimore, Maryland in 1962, where she met her high school sweetheart, James W. Craig, whom she later married on June 22, 1963. Pat and James have three daughters, Sharon Lamb (Robert), Renee Cardona (Ramon), and Sharnea Craig-Woods (De’Shawnn) and five grandchildren, Elicia Cardona, Ramon Cardona, Jr. (Jessica), Jasmine Bailey (David), De’Shawnn Woods II (Jalesa), and Deion Woods.

Pat began her career as a nurse’s aide at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland and she was also a secretary at a local high school in Baltimore, Maryland. On Governor’s Island, in New York, Pat was a supervisor at the Coast Guard Exchange and she later retired as a Residential Clinical Records Clerk at the Pines Residential Treatment Center in Portsmouth, Virginia.

At the young age of 13, Pat began her walk with Christ and was baptized by Pastor James A. Everett at Shiloh Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland. In later years, Pat joined Union Bethel Baptist Church in Chesapeake, Virginia and served as a chairperson for the Pastor’s Aide Ministry.

Pat enjoyed reading, listening to music, shopping, dancing, and spending time with her family and friends.

Pat leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, James W. Craig, her daughters, Sharon Lamb, Renee Cardona, and Sharnea Craig-Woods, her son-in-law’s, Ramon Cardona, De’Shawnn Woods, and Robert Lamb, and her grandchildren, Elicia Cardona, Ramon Cardona, Jr. (Jessica), Jasmine Bailey (David), De’Shawnn Woods II (Jalesa), and Deion Woods.

To also cherish her memories are her siblings, Warren Williams, Mary Banks, Marlyn Tyson, Marleen Hayes (Maurice), Joseph Williams (Elsie), and Roseann Collins (Bernard), as well as, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, George E. Williams, Sr. and Florence E. Williams, and her siblings, Walter Snead, Robert Bailey, Sr., George E. Williams, Jr., Louis Williams, and Michael Williams.
