Bessie Lorean Shark was born in Southampton County on September 30, 1948, and made her transition into eternity on May 31, 2025, ending her battle from illness at home in Norfolk, VA.
Bessie received her primary education at Ruffner Jr. High and Booker T. Washington High School. She worked several housekeeping positions.
She is predeceased by her parents, Paul E. Warren and Madis Lee Warren; son, Jasper L. Scott; daughter, Pamela D. Jenkins; sister, Mazie M. Hayes; brother-in-law, Roland N. Hayes; brother, Samuel Parham; two aunts, Annie Ricks and Ruth Edwards; and uncle James Ricks.
Bessie leaves to mourn her loss six daughters, Wanza L. Faltz, Rowena Scott-Holland (Keith Holland), Michelle E. Scott, Pamela D. Jenkins, Geneva Scott-Ruffin(Antonio Ruffin), and Mia C. Burtt; three sons, Jasper L. Scott, Chalmers Beard (Arlene Beard), and Steven W. Beard; and a special cousin, James Faltz (Sonnyboy); 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; along with a host of relatives and friends.
