… I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” -John 11:25, 26

Evangelist Bertha Mae Bridgers was born to the late Charlie B. and Rosalie Henderson on January 24, 1940, in Dillion South Carolina. While living with her father in Washington, DC, Evangelist Bridgers met the love of her life Edward Bridgers Sr. When he left for the military, and she returned to South Carolina, her home, they continued to communicate by letters. Edward knew she was the one for him and he proposed to Bertha by U.S. Mail. They were married in South Carolina on September 6, 1956, and four children were born of this union: Patricia, Larry, Edward Jr. and Teresa.

Mamma, you were my role model, my mentor, my biggest cheerleader, my sister, and my best friend! Thank you for all the wonderful years we spent together and thank you for loving me unconditionally!

They say it takes a village to raise a child, but it also takes a village to help an aging parent. I would like to thank Mamma’s Village, Tim my husband, Teresa my sister, Jr. my brother, Renita my sister-in-law and my two nieces Ciya and Cierra.

Together we made sure that all of Mamma’s personal needs were taken care of. This allowed her to live out her final days, on this earth, in her own home and on her own terms. We showered her with love and affection every day. Mamma was so happy and grateful. She felt blessed and thankful to have a family that loved her so very much. How do I know these things? She told me so each and every day! Mamma, I miss you so much!
