Belinda Richardson Cornegay

Life began for Belinda Richardson Cornegay on January 4, 1951, in Bertie County, NC, to the late Ernest Richardson, Sr. and Mary Lee Nichols Richardson and departed from this life January 20, 2023, at Maryview Hospital, Portsmouth, VA.

Belinda was raised in Roxobel, NC where she attended grade school and graduated from Bertie High School. Soon after graduation, she was blessed with one son, Robert Deshaun Richardson. Later, Belinda met and married the love of her life, David L. Cornegay, she relocated to Virginia where she was a devoted housewife for most of their honeymoon years.  She eventually went on to work in a variety of professions, which consisted of positions at Gwaltney, QVC and Walmart.

Belinda joined Sandy Branch Missionary Baptist Church in Roxobel, NC at an early age.  She later joined and moved her membership to New Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, Portsmouth, VA, where she was a faithful member until her health started to fail.

Belinda loved doing crafts and scrapbooking.  Her third eye and creative visionary skills were top tier. She loved flowers, planting in her garden, finding new recipes, and trying out new wines while she relaxed in the evenings.

Belinda was proceeded in death by her mother and father, one sister Elizabeth Richardson and two brothers, Ernest Richardson, Jr. and Robert Cary.

Belinda leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 50 loving and devoted years, David; her son, “Shaun” Richardson both of the home; one sister, Sheila Richardson of Williamston, NC; four brothers, Charles Richardson, Sr. of Patterson, NJ, Donnell Richardson, Cecil Richardson both of Chesterfield, VA, and Christopher Richardson, Sr. (Juanita), of Roxobel, NC; one goddaughter/niece Bianca Richardson, of Burlington, NC; four aunts, Virginia Gray of Lodi, NJ, Audrey Daye of Patterson, NJ, Florence Cherry of Portsmouth, VA, Barbara Parsons of Henderson, NC, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a special little girl, Alani.

I am so happy that I had the opportunity to meet her and get to know her through in by her sister Sheila, whom is a very dear friend of mines. God bless you all.
