Beatrice Payton-Jacobs

Beatrice Payton-Jacobs, 91, of Norfolk went to be with the Lord on September 22, 2018 in Aurora, Colorado. Beatrice was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church Logan Park for over 50 years and devoted to doing the Lord’s work. She was a faithful member of the No. 2 Ushers Board, additionally; she was a proud member of the First Baptist Church Logan Park Four Score Club. Beatrice was also honored for her tireless work as a missionary by the Norfolk Area Missionary Council of Hampton Roads.

Mrs. Jacobs retired from the Norfolk Naval Base (Breezy Point Officers Club) after working for over 20 years. Beatrice was the widow of the late Troy Jacobs and was preceded in death by her parents –Joseph and Ella Hodges-Payton a host of siblings:  William, John, Joseph, Charlie, Clarence, James, Mary, Naomi, Ella, and grandchildren: Kelvin Jacobs, Sharon Walker, and Darnell Clark.

Beatrice was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by one brother, James Harris; daughter, Cynthia Roberts and husband Roger; daughter, Linda Morris; daughter, Susie Carrington and husband Grantley; daughter, Willie Obge; son, William Harris; grandson, Vincent Jacobs; grandson, Major Ronald  Lawson (USA/RET); grandson, David Carrington; grandson, Nelson Walker Jr.; granddaughter, Alexis Ford, MD, MPH; great-grandsons, DeVon Lawson, Dante Lawson, Nicholas Jacobs, Kendal Lawson, Joshua Ford and one great-granddaughter Makia Howard and numerous nieces, nephews, and other devoted family members.
