Our Beautiful and precious Beatrice “Bea” Hurdle, transitioned to her heavenly home on November 26, 2020. As always in line with God’s timing, she was called to be with the Lord as many prepared for a day of fellowship with family and friends. Her calling home to glory on this day, was one we pray we all will be able to see. She departed from her earthly family, only to join our Heavenly Father. She was born Sept. 17, 1957, destined to be a strong and faithful servant with the call of serving God and sharing the goodness of the Gospel. Bea, affectionately called “My Baby and Big Sis” by her brothers, was a powerful encourager, God filled truth teller, friend and confidant. Her wisdom was highly respected by both family and friends.
Bea was a graduate of Oscar Smith High School class of 1974. She later graduated Cum Laude from Norfolk State University in 1979, with a degree in Criminology and Minor in Sociology.
Bea gave her life to the Lord while in her early 20’s, and never looked back. She led a spirit-filled life and captured the hearts of all who came to know and love her. Her smile was as beautiful as her heart, and was captivating and welcoming. Bea never met a stranger.
For the past eight years, Bea had been a faithful member of Forever Grateful Ministries, under the leadership of Pastor Sheril Leggett. Her Christian foundation began as a member of First Church of Deliverance #2, under the leadership of Pastor E. Sexton, and later under the leadership of Bishop C. McBath, of Calvary Revival Church, where she served as a Care Group Leader and as a member of the Follow-up Ministry.
Bea was known to be a devoted and diligent worker. For the past six years, Bea was employed with the Chesapeake Social Services Department, where she was an Accountant I. She worked at Calvary Revival Church in the finance department for more than 14 years after being employed by Bank of America for more than 25 years.
Bea lived her life as a highly favored, God fearing woman of God, and a mighty warrior. She enjoyed traveling to various destinations, taking trips and cruises, where with her very first trip, she and her niece packed everything, including the kitchen sink. She loved taking in plays, watching Hallmark movies, and was an avid reader of Christian books, and the Bible. Above all, Bea enjoyed spending quality time with family, friends and talking about the goodness of God.
Most recently, Bea graduated from Discipleship Evangelism course through Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, further preparing herself for her desire to reach all who would listen. She was a star student and left her instructors amazed with her knowledge.
Bea was a great listener, counselor, and spiritual teacher. She could unfold the heart of life situations, all while instilling the best of what God wants for all of us. She spoke with sound biblical wisdom, she listened and took time to comfort those in need. She led a joyful life, and had a hearty laugh that could warm your soul. She was no-nonsense, and could get a prayer through to God on your behalf. That’s our Bea, we thank God for her life and legacy.
Bea is preceded in her heavenly home by her mother Elizabeth Ferbee, and father, Arthur Macke.
She cherished her two beloved God daughters, Kendra Simmons and Kaiya Sanaa Amaris Prince.
She leaves to treasure her memory, three brothers; Pastor James R. Jenkins (Associate Pastor Loretta), of Chesapeake, Va, George P. Hurdle (Brenda), of Washington, D.C., and Willie Ferbee, Jr., of Chesapeake, Va., a niece and best friend, Tanya R. Jenkins, of Chesapeake, Va., and a host of relatives and friends.

December 4, 2020 at 5:12 amBea..I know that you cannot hear, see, feel, or comprehend what I’m about to write this morning. I miss knowing that I’ll never see you your house and especially your cute gray car parked in its spot on Williamson Street again. When I was in school with you from a young girl, all the way to high school, I found you to be a very sweet, smart, intelligent friend. I used to walk to your house and we talked outside in the front yard by the gate. I was so happy to be with my friend. I will always cherish the good times we shared. I will always remember that warm beautiful smile that you’ve always worn from the very first day we met. Rest with the Lord…I will meet you in Heaven soon. Love you to life! Gwen

December 5, 2020 at 4:39 amTo the family and friends of our beloved Queen Bea:
Words are insufficient to express the depth of sadness I felt when I learned of Bea’s transition to her heavenly realm. Bea was a formidable friend, powerful prayer warrior, and a constant encourager. To this day, I hear her voice telling me to “stay focused” in spite of the challenges and success life may bring. I will cherish the wisdom and joy she shared forever.
May Queen Bea’s loving memories comfort you all.
