Sunset: April 2, 2025

Barrington Fowles, a retired United States Navy Veteran and resident of Norfolk, VA, passed from this life into eternal life on April 2, 2025, at the age of 73.

Barrington Fowles was born on March 30, 1952, with his twin brother, Clifton Fowles, by his side to the late Washington Fowles and Edna Stephenson-Fowles in Roehampton, St. James, Jamaica. He later migrated to the United States in September 1967.  Upon graduating from high school, he joined the United States Navy, where he actively served for 20 years until he retired at the rank of Petty Officer First Class.

Petty Officer First Class Barrington Fowles served during the Vietnam and Gulf Wars.  During his time in service in the United States Navy, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Fifth Good Conduct Award, and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with Four Bronze Stars.  He enjoyed serving in the United States Military and considered it both an honor and a privilege, but also as an opportunity to succeed in life through hard work and dedication.

Upon his retirement, he entered the realm of entrepreneurship and invested in real estate in the Norfolk area.  He was an avid gym enthusiast and spent his days reading motivational books in an effort to strive to continue to succeed in life and achieve the “American Dream”.  Although he journeyed to the United States, he never forgot about his humble beginnings in Jamaica.  He selflessly gave to his family back home to provide some relief for their economic hardships.

He leaves to cherish his memory and legacy his beloved daughter, Tanya Hodges and three granddaughters, Elicia Parker, Myka Johnson and Kyla Johnson, Suffolk, VA; brothers Clifton Fowles, Casselberry, FL, Evord Fowles, Bronx, NY, Ewan (Jimmy) Fowles, Bronx, NY, Syl and Downie, Jamaica, WI; sister Claudia Intsiful (Samuel Intsiful), Plainsboro, NJ; nieces Arlene Fowles-Stephenson (Rudyard Stephenson), Bronx, NY, Rosemarie Fowles, Mount Vernon, NY; nephews Davin Intsiful, Sylvan Fowles (Phyllis Fowles) and a host of family and friends.

He is predeceased by his sister, Martha Fowles, and former spouse, Felicia Parson, whom he cared for until her passing and continued in the nurturing and caring of her children until his passing.
