Barbara J. Watson

Sunrise: May 11, 1944

Sunset: June 17, 2022

For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.  I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

2 Timothy 4:6-8

On Friday, May 17, 2022, St. Barbara Rodgers Watson, left this earth on the wings of an angel bound for her heavenly home. She was born in Norfolk County, Virginia to the late Apostle Willie and Saint Catherine Griffin Rodgers, on May 12, 1944.   She attended Chesapeake Public Schools.    She later married her best friend, Deacon Landis “Sam” Watson, Sr., Chesapeake, VA.  She was employed by Norfolk Public Schools for 25 years.

She was a life-long member of the United House of Prayer for All People.  Saint Watson received the gift of the Holy Ghost at an early age.   She served as General Secretary in Portsmouth for 59 years.   She was very knowledgeable of the rules and regulation and gave 100 percent of herself to execute her duties to the best of her abilities as General Secretary.  That was her passion, and she served in that position until God called her home to rest.  St. Watson had strong faith, her belief in the House of Prayer and her faith in God was unwavering.   She was anointed a Saint by Bishop Walter “Daddy” McCollough in August 1988.   This was an unforgettable experience that began her life journey to Give God Everything.  “May the works I’ve done speak for me.” Saint Barbara Watson was blessed to serve under four Prophets and there was no change in her devoutness and commitment from one administration to the next.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Apostle Willie Rodgers and Saint Catherine Griffin Rodgers, her husband, Deacon Landis Watson, Sr.; one son, Bro. Christopher “Fefi” Watson, two brothers, Apostles John and Herbert Rodgers.   She leaves to cherish her memory, three sons, Elder Landis Watson, Jr. (Vearn), Norfolk, VA; Elder Anderson Watson (Angela) South Carolina; Bro. Joseph Watson (Aricka), Portsmouth, VA; one adopted daughter Sis. Anita Revell (David), Chesapeake, VA; one sister, St. Annie Jackson, Norfolk, VA; two brothers, Bro. Willie “Little Willie” Rodgers (Josie), Chicago, IL; Deacon Henry Rodgers (Metilda), Chesapeake, VA; thirteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
