On Saturday, April 4, 2020, Barbara Elizabeth Giroux Hinton, 93, of Norfolk, Virginia passed away. Her final days were spent surrounded by family.
Born July 8,1926, in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbara was the daughter to the late Frederick Edwin and Lenora Glasgow Giroux. Barbara loved to go shopping and listening to music. She is predeceased by her husband Roy, son Ali and her siblings: Rita, Marjorie, Calvin, Vilma, William, Irma, Peggy and Fredrick.
Barbara is survived by her three daughters, Margaret Woodbury (Elmo), Mona Farrow (James), and Yolanda Benderson (Angus); three sons, Mark (Nancy), Lance (Darlene), and Roy. A special daughter in law Pamela Brown. Also the grandchildren she helped raise and take care of growing up Chanda, Mattanyah, Lance, Christopher, Felicia, Alicia, Kayla and Warren, as well as her great grandson Ty. A sister, Jean Derrick of Trinidad and Tobago, and brother Francis Giroux of Brooklyn, NY. She has 20 grandchildren and 21 great- grandchildren, in laws, and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Michael Tucker and staff, and nurse Jan of At Home Health Care and to her granddaughter Chanda Copelin for providing care for her.
