Audrey Marie Hampton

Audrey M. (Benson) Hampton, 81, entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 4, 2021 in Maryview Hospital.  Born in Queens City (Virginia Beach), VA, daughter of the late Leander and Lenora (Barrington) Benson.  She lived in the tidewater area Norfolk/Chesapeake before moving to Portsmouth, VA.  She worked as a line cook at Dixie Land (Chesapeake) for over 20 years. She did not finish high school (10^th grade).  She was a member of the New Testament Church in Portsmouth for over thirty years.  She loved to cook, play cards, and be around her family.  She leaves her ex-husband of 10 years William Hampton, her children, Denise Jacobs (D) (Tyrone) of Suffolk, Dara (Rena) Benson of Portsmouth, Evelyn Woods (Donald (D)) of Portsmouth, and Troy Benson (D) of Portsmouth. Thirteen grandchildren, Michael Gordon, Debra Segura, LaQuan White, Melvin White, Kelvin White, Rhasheem “Rock” White, Travis Benson, Candice Smith, Tristan Benson, Kebrina Benson, Dion Benson, Demitri Benson, and Earl Benson. A brother, Albert Lee Benson (Barbara) and many nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and cousins. She was predeceased by her siblings, Edith Hawkins Pope, Lenora Lollar Sutton, Leander Benson Jr., Rosetta Bly, Earl Benson, Evelyn Clark, Ola Benson, and Rev. Annie Lucille Benson Bowen.
