Audreia Layne Wilkerson McCondichie was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 31, 1985, the only daughter of Verlana McCondichie and Charles Brian Wilkerson.
The majority of her childhood was spent traveling with her mother while she served in the United States Navy. Not wanting to spend her senior year of high school at a new school, she decided not to travel to Japan with her mother; instead returning to Chicago where she attended Kenwood Academy, her mother’s alma mater. After graduating, she briefly attended the University of Illinois – Champaign Urbana before deciding that she missed her mom terribly and joined her in Florida. While residing in Florida, she attended Pensacola State College where she earned her first Associates Degree. After many years in Florida, Audreia made one last move to Virginia, again because she missed her mom.
Despite being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 14 (and many other things as years past), she never let that stop her from achieving her goals. While in Virginia, she worked full time at Holiday House of Portsmouth, a home for children with special needs, gaining experience as she set her sights on continuing her education. Starting at Tidewater Community College, she filled in the missing courses needed to transfer to her final destination of Norfolk State University where she graduated magna cum laude in May 2023. She was accepted in the graduate program (Child and Adolescent Development) at Capella University to start in January 2024.
Audreia is survived by her mother Verlana; grandmother, Shirley; brother, Corey; along with an extensive list of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Each of whom loved her fiercely and will miss her immensely.
