Artie “Buddy” Harris

Artie Harris, 88, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Portsmouth Health Rehabilitation Center. He was born on January 28, 1936, in Chesapeake County to the late George and Hester Harris.  

Arti, called “Buddy” loved to raise horses and hunt in his younger years in Deep Creek. He was united in holy matrimony to Mary Elizabeth Harris. They were married for 61 years before her passing on December 21, 2016. Artie and Mary lived and raised their two sons in Chesapeake, Virginia. Artie worked for years installing underground cables throughout the Hampton Roads area. He liked working on cars and watching his sons play softball. Also, Artie was an avid fan of WWE wrestling.  

Artie leaves to cherish his memories two sons, Samuel Harris (Letitia) of Virginia Beach, VA, Hosea Harris, Sr. (Debra) of Chesapeake, VA, two grandchildren, LaVonda Harris of Portsmouth, VA, and Hosea Harris, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, and one great-grandchild, Camren Roberts of Portsmouth, VA. Artie was predeceased in death by a brother, Cecil Harris.  He is survived by four brothers, Rueben (Bonita), George, Pete (Diane), and Ricky (Jeanette), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
