Arthur C. Cartwright

Deacon Arthur C. Cartwright, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend made his peaceful and triumphant transition to heaven on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Assuredly the angels now rejoice at his arrival.

Deacon Cartwright was born to the late Edith Cartwright in Brooklyn, New York on March 24, 1942. He attended New York Public Schools. He married the love of his life, Rosa Jane Fauntleroy on June 2, 1979.  He was employed as a truck driver for over 20 years with Certified Leasing Corp., in Maryland. Later, he became a truck driver with Southeastern Public Service Authority (SPSA) in, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Suffolk, Virginia where he retired after 26 years of service.

He now leaves to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy, his beloved wife of 45 years of marriage,  Rosa Jane Cartwright of Norfolk, VA; eight children: Michelle Howard (Anthony) of California; Jeannetta  West of Washington DC; Arthur West of Washington DC; Lolita Cuffee (Roy) of Norfolk, VA; Tracy  Fauntleroy of Maryland, Sakeithia Taylor of Washington DC; Tameka Taylor of Washington DC; and Stephanie Brown (Jimmy) of Norfolk, VA; Three adopted daughters with love; Cherri Brown (William) of  Chesapeake, VA; Anne Boddie of Washington DC; and Lakeshal Britt of Norfolk, VA; Four Sisters-in-law: Olean Williams of Durham, NC (Weldon [Deceased]); Bernice Moore of Norfolk, VA; Janette Saunders (Donald [Deceased]) of Virginia Beach, and Janet Armstrong of Virginia Beach, VA. Special Nieces and  Nephew: Crystal McInnis of Chesapeake, VA; Roy McInnis (Doug) of California, and Jennifer Floyd (Willie) of Norfolk, VA. He also leaves to cherish his legacy of thirty-four grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. He leaves to cherish a special best friend, Mr. Lafayette Rainey (Mary) of Norfolk, VA.
