Arethalia Whitfield Scott peacefully left this earth to go home to her heavenly Father on July 17,2019 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Thalia (as many knew her) was born Arethalia Laverne Knight to the late Randolph Haskins and Edith Knight. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her very loving non-biological father, Earnest Thomas Vaughn Sr and sister Edith Sutton.
Arethalia worked as a civil servant for the government at various posts in the Hampton Roads area. She was a contract specialist for the Navy at the start of her career, the army in the middle of her time, and with the navy seals, where she gracefully retired after 32 years of service in support of our armed forces. Filled with compassion, joy and her will to
serve God, Thalia was always there for someone to talk to for an encouraging word, or a new prospective on problem solving, even a kind hug from the heart.
Arethalia loved her family, her church (Mount Carmel Baptist Church) and members till the last day she walked her path to the house of the Lord. Mount Carmel Baptist Church is here Arethalia had a chance to express her faith and devotion to God as an active member of the 55 and over ministry and the women’s Evangelist group. Thalia was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grand grandmother.
Arethalia leaves behind to continue her work here on earth: her husband Robert Scott and family, one daughter Chaketa Peyton, two sons : Marlon Whitfield Sr, Charles Whitfield
Jr. four brothers: Randolph, Terry, Maurice, Earnest Jr, and a host of grandchildren ,great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends, Arethalia Laverne Whitfield Scott will be infinitely missed forever.

I’m sadden, but also understand that you are in transition to the grand spiritual world. You were always there as a supporter in many capacities and I know you will make your staple in your new life. My sister not sister-n-law will be missed more than I can say!
