Antionette L. Blackwell

Sunrise: January 2, 1957

Sunset: July 25, 2020

On January 2, 1957 in Conway, North Carolina, Frances Z. Jones and the late Leo Boone welcomed Antionette into this world. In 1975 she graduated from W.S. Creecy High School, life later leading her into Norfolk, Virginia, where she met her husband Roosevelt Blackwell, Jr. They married in 1985 and their union produced 3 children.

Her motherly love extended to the many children that she cared for throughout her life. In addition to the children of family, friends, and neighbors, she touched the lived of hundreds of students during her 20 year career at Norview Elementary and served youth through the Calvary Revival Church Volunteer Ministry.

Antionette will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit, beautiful smile, infectious laugh, and her unwavering love for family and strangers alike. She was a self proclaimed “country girl,” collector of dolls, and loved to shop, travel, watch westerns and spend time with her loved ones.

In addition to her mother and husband,  Antionette’s memory will be cherished by her daughters, Avonta Blackwell and Katrina Ballance (Wyatt); son Roosevelt K. Blackwell; grandchildren Lauryn, Davion, and Wesley; brother, Arthur “Earl” Lassiter; sister, Lucretia Jones, as well as a legion of beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, cherished relatives and friends.
