Anthony Brecnel Calahan

Sunrise: August 24, 1957

Sunset: November 6, 2023

Anthony Calahan was born on the 24th of April, 1957, to the union of Myrtle and James Calahan in New Orleans, Louisiana. They made a home in Folsom, Louisiana where he stayed as a young child to adult.

Anthony attended a Catholic school as a child, so he was no stranger to God’s love even at a young age. He lived a life full of fun while playing football at and receiving his high school diploma from Covington High School in 1976, later going on to receive some education from Southeastern University. He joined the schools choir and while singing and music was his passion, after he was told that he couldn’t sing in soprano and was forced to be baritone, he decided that college wasn’t for him. He never lost his love for good tunes, but decided to join the U.S. Navy in the year of 1978, becoming an aircraft mechanic and traveling to many different countries over the years.

While traveling the world, he would meet his wife of 37 years in the Philippines. He and Gina Calahan joined forces in holy matrimony in July of 1987. To this union, he would bear 4 beautiful children. He would soon retire from the Navy after 20 long years of hard labor in 1998, beginning his career as Quality Control Supervisor at First Data. He would later leave his job in 2015 and began settling down in the comfort of his home. Anthony was the most caring and giving person (in his own way) and definitely showed that loving side to his grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Myrtle R. Calahan (2001) and James W. Calahan (2005) and his two brothers, Selwyn L Calahan (2004) and James A Calahan (2022).

He leaves to cherish his memories: his children: Anthony Longakit of the Philippines, Antonious Calahan of El Paso, TX, Aaronus Calahan of Norfolk, VA; Regina Calahan of Norfolk, VA, and Angenette Calahan of Norfolk, VA; siblings: Cynthia Grady (Dave) of West Monroe, LA, Marvin Calahan (Michelle) of New Orleans, LA, Ylori Moore (Gregory), Wanda Calahan of Liberty, MO, and Shirley Ann Calahan of Baton Rouge, LA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
