Annie J. Stringer

Sunrise: January 31, 1925

Sunset: October 15, 2022

On October 15, 2022, Annie J. Stringer ascended on the wings of angels to her eternal home surrounded by loving daughters. She was born in Crenshaw County, Alabama to the late Ideal and Eaircie B. Ginwright. Mrs. Stringer was predeceased by her husband of sixty-seven years, Lincoln Stringer.

Mrs. Stringer received her education in the public schools of Montgomery, Alabama. She accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and joined Bethel Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. She was a member of the Missionary Circle #4 and the gospel choir.

Mrs. Stringer met and married her husband, Lincoln Stringer in Alabama. Four daughters were born to this union. The military career of her husband brought her to Virginia. After moving to Virginia, she joined and became an active member of Olive Branch Baptist Church. She served under the leadership of the late Pastor James Sharpe on the #1 and #2 women’s usher boards. She was also a member of the Sunday School Class #2 and the gospel choir. Mrs. Stringer served in the Missionary and loved helping others. She was faithful and served until her health failed her. Mrs. Stringer remained a member under the leadership of Pastor Ernest Reid and current Pastor, Rev. Dr. Michael L. Williams. She retired from G.S.H. Corporation, April 1, 1991 after 23 years of outstanding service.

Mrs. Stringer was a loving, caring, and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. There was never a time that Mother could not look at any of her daughters without sensing their joy or pain. She would always willingly offer assistance to remedy whatever the issue may be. Mother, we will always treasure your willingness to assist all of us. You were given the appropriate name of Jewel at birth because that is truly what you were and always will be in our hearts.

Mrs. Stringer leaves to cherish her loving memory, four daughters, Mary S. Grant (Matthew), Patricia S. McCuller (George), Rev. Myrtle J. Kee (Jesse-deceased), and Linda S. Herron (Val) ; eight grandchildren Matthew Grant, III, Wanda Holley (William-deceased) , Jesse Kee, Jr., Latarsia Foster, Derick Kee, Monique Stringer, Tujina Ray (Curtis), and Simone Herron; eleven great-grandchildren; Brandon Grant (Danielle), Kionna Grant, Danielle Grant, Jayla, Rayvon, and Raymon Riddick, Alana Foster, Corey Ashley, William Holley Jr., Caitlyn Ashley, Ne’Vaeh Foster, and Jamare Holley; seven great great grandchildren; Morgyn Biers, Kolby Guild, Naudia Stallings, Sebastian and Mercedes Grant, Legacy and Kyro Brown; and one sister, Mrs. Edith Washington; nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Stringer was preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Grant; great granddaughter, Brittany Biers; great great grandson, Cordell Grant; five sisters, Mrs. Nancy Kate Peterson, Mrs. Doshie Brown, Mrs. Gracie L. Jones, Mrs. Frances Moseley, and Mrs. Ruby Draine; two brothers, Jackie I. and Frederick Ginwright; and one son-in-law, Jesse Kee, Sr.

A special thank you to Suncrest Hospice Service. Also Ms. Rebecca Francois and Jayla Riddick (great granddaughter). They were faithful and devoted caregivers to Mom along with all of her daughters.
