Annette Riddick Smith

Annette Virginia Riddick -Smith was born to the late Deacon Lawrence Artmore Riddick and Ola Virginia Cooper, of Princess Anne County on February 7, 1927. She departed this earthly life on Friday, April 9 2021. Always a caring nurturing spirit she helped raise her siblings from the age of twelve. She married Heppy Griffin and they shared five beautiful children after building a home in Norfolk Virginia where he departed this earthly life early. At the young age of 60 Annette was re-married to Claude Smith where they shared a home together for many years in the beautiful city of Chesapeake, VA.

She is predeceased by her husband Claude E. Smith. She is also predeceased by her two sons Shelton Griffin and Hubert H.
Griffin affectionally known as "Butch" and her siblings Lawrence Riddick, Elsie L. Riddick-Mason, Clarence A. Riddick, Clifford E. Riddick and James R. Riddick; her granddaughter Shevelle Taylor and great grandson Mareo Smith. Annette received her degree from Norfolk State University. She worked and retired as a Civil Servant from the U.S. Naval Base in Norfolk, VA. She pastored full Gospel AMEZ which became Full Gospel the Way Ministries where she retired from pastoring. She was a league bowler and an avid saltwater fisher. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. She will be forever remembered for warm heart, beautiful smile and her sweet rolls.

Annette leaves to cherish her memories children, Annette Fentress, of Norfolk, Diane (Allen) Smith of Virginia Beach, Rev. Vernon (Amanda) Griffin, Chesapeake, VA, Grand Children Allen (Stella) Smith Jr., Sonji (Elishia) Jones, Lorenzo Smith, Demetrious (Ava) Smith, Charissa Griffin, Ross Griffin, Rasheada Shelton, Richard Shelton, Xavier Griffin, Shelly Griffin, Desiree Griffin, keith Griffin, Mercedes Robinson, Michael Griffin, Flamingo Malone, Kendraah Griffin; Great Grands, Great – Great Grands, Sister Rev. Rosalyn R. Woodard and a host of loving nieces, nephews, Cousins, and Friends.

    My Deepest Sympathy goes out to my family at this time. I was very sorry to heard of Aunt Jennie passing as I recalled all the visits we use to make to see Aunt Jennie and Uncle Heppy and there was always a welcome and a smile on her face.
