Annette Keywest Fentress

Mrs. Annette G. Fentress, affectionally known as “Sweetpea” daughter of the late Heppy H. Griffin and Annette Riddick Griffin was born on April 30, 1947, in Norfolk, VA.  She graduated from Booker T. High School and NSU.  She was united in Holy matrimony to the late Walter Fentress, Jr. for 18 years.

Owner of Bountiful Styles Salon in Chesapeake, VA. Where she retired from cosmetology in 1997. She later began renting properties and investing in real estate, until she took on being her mothers’ full time care giver until her mother’s transition on April 9, 2021.

She was a huge fan of the Pittsburg Steelers and professional Boxing. She was an avid saltwater fisher and she traveled and lived all over in the U.S. in places like Miami, California, Boston, and Washington, D.C. to name a few. She also loved gospel music and was a part of the Rainbow Gospel Singers.

She was a God-fearing woman and an ordained deaconess of Full Gospel the Way Ministries, where she formed a jail ministry in support of her son wrongful conviction. She was a faithful member of The Mount Global Fellowship of Churches until her transition.

She transitioned on Saturday July 17, 2021.  On this glorious day, God called her home, for she had been a good and faithful servant. She obediently reached out her hand to touch the master’s hand and transitioned to her final resting place.

She was a loving and devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Fentress Jr; Mother Annette R. Smith (Claude); Father, Heppy H. Griffin; and Brothers Shelton Griffin and Hubert H. Griffin.

She leaves to cherish her memory: one son, Richard C. Shelton of Norfolk, VA; two daughters, Sonji B. Jones (Rev. Elishia) of Virginia Beach, VA and RaSheada Faith Shelton of Norfolk, VA; brother, Pastor Vernon K. Griffin (Amanda) of Chesapeake, VA and sister, Evangelist Diane T. Smith (Allen, Sr.) of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, Carshena Clayton, Rev. Lloyd Griffin (Shalaura), Jitia Griffin, Zachariah Griffin, Isreal Mayo, Tamariah Corpening, A’Donius Shelton; special niece, April Taylor; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
