Ann Marie Massenburg was called home to heaven on March 14, 2020, in Portsmouth, Va. Our beloved “Ann Marie” was born July 28,1969 to Annie E. Cheek and the late Grover C. Massenburg

Ann Marie was a faithful member of the Ransom for Souls Church as long as her health allowed. She was a hardworking single mother with an in-charge and boss lady personality. Ann Marie was as a certified mental health and peer support counselor in Portsmouth and Virginia Beach. She was a long-term supervisor at multiple warehouses including National Linen Services in Portsmouth, Va. She attended Cradock High School and graduated from Tidewater Community College with a degree in Business Management. Ann Marie had a love of music, especially Patti Labelle.

Ann is preceded in death by her father Grover C. Massenburg, two brothers Dennis Carter and Howard Jones. She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother Annie E. Cheek, her only son Travon M. Massenburg, three sisters Emma Cousar (Justice), Deloris Craddock ( Anthony), Callie Battle (David), Life-long best friend and sister Theresa Williams-Rivers, six brothers Robert Massenburg (Terry), William Carter, Grover Massenburg, Donnell Massenburg, Larry Massenburg, Michael Massenburg and Leonard Jones, Five grandchildren, Taniyah, Tra’Onna, Travon II, Travis, & Travell  “Bubba” Massenburg, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

      From the day we met 4yrs ago I can say I LOVE YOU and will cherish every moment we spent together Ms. Ann… You were one feisty keep it real with u woman and I will never forget you…. To be absent from the body to be present with the lord RIP

    Thanksgiving 2021 was the first year ever being home and you were not there physically. The drive was hard, the thoughts and memories were overwhelming. However, it was great to be home and yet in the same old space. I love and miss you so much sis.
