First Lady (Minister) Angela Marie Wainwright, born October 22, 1964, transitioned home to be with the Lord on September 14, 2020.
First Lady Wainwright is a native of Norfolk, Virginia, a graduate of Princess Anne High School, and a graduate of Bowie State University where she received her Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology.
She is credited for her unwavering support to the United States Army as an Army spouse for 20 years. Her dedication and support were recognized in numerous accommodations that include the Mary E. Walker Award, the Department of the Army Commander’s Award for Public Service, and a number of other distinguished awards, certificates and letters. Her love for people and passion to encourage women led to the birth of her weekly emails entitled “Encouraging Words.” Her ability to reach the hearts of people had a global effect that changed lives for the better, and ultimately led to the publication of her first book, Enjoy the Journey, Words of Encouragement for the Relational Woman.
First Lady had many accomplishments, but there was and is none greater that that of her works in ministry. Through countless and bondless efforts, she assisted with the development and establishment of several Ministries to include Word of Truth Christian Ministries and Word of Truth International Christian Ministries. Her mantra was twofold: Excellence in Ministry and Simple Jesus. She lived both.
Her greatest love was her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Pastor Gavin E. Wainwright (Hampton, VA), three beautiful children, Gavin Jr. (Longview, TX), Justin (Fort Bragg, NC), and Kearstin Walker (Marcus/Houston, TX), and granddaughter Nia Marie. She also leaves to cherish her memories, Thelma Winter (mother); Robert Richardson (brother); Nailah Richardson (sister); and Marie Dunson (sister). First Lady was loved by many to include a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She will be missed and will always be our Forever First Lady.

Just reading her encouraging words as part of my daily devotions has tremendously bolstered my faith during the pandemic. September 22, 2020 at 10:21 amMy Deepest Heartfelt Sympathy for Pastor Gavin Wainwright, Gavin Jr., Justin, Kearstin, Grand-baby Nia and extended family. I know your hearts are heavy and your pain is deep and great during this heartbreaking and challenging time. I know you already know, but please be further encouraged knowing that Angela indeed did a phenomenal job for the Kingdom of God making an impact wherever she was blessed to be. She had many gifts and used them all exceedingly abundantly well. She loved and adored you all dearly with every fiber in her being. I know it’s hard to understand at times why God did not permit this beautiful woman of great faith to
stay with you longer, but it was His choice; because I know He definitely heard hers, yours and others prayers. I know Angela would not want you to grieve too long and too hard but to choose wisely, achieve mightily and continue and enjoy your journey with all the precious and wonderful memories and words of wisdom and encouragement she left with you. Blessings and much love, Carolyn Julien

September 22, 2020 at 4:52 pmNo words can EXPRESS my grief. But I know GOD is ABLE. MY FIRST time ever meeting ANGELA was at a Women’s Conference they were having. I took the TIME when my Husband and I were at the beach for our ANNIVERSARY. He dropped me off. I stayed an enjoyed this womens conference so much. The person that greeted me at the door didn’t know me and I didn’t know her. I recognized my Cousin Lois, her Mom. I said to her that’s my Cousin right there, ANGELA said,”well that’s my Mom. “I said ok. Angela led me to a seat near FAMILY I knew. Angela was very nice, her SPIRIT was inviting. As I sat there I kept wondering why I didn’t know her? Angela being one of the speakers, impressed me to a point of FEELING PROUD…” THAT WAS MY COUSIN.” I followed ANGELA & Cousin PASTOR Wainwright (as I referred to him as) because he was married to MY AWSOME COUSIN) ON, Facebook, during Church renovations). It always inspired me, as to what was going on in my AUNTIE MARTHA’S church. I know she is PROUD of Cousin PASTOR Wainwright & ANGELA, BECAUSE I AM. RIP ANGELA TTUL COUZ. PEACE AND BLESSINGS TO OUR FAMILY. GOD IS STILL IN CHARGE.

September 23, 2020 at 9:42 pmHer smile always lit up my day. It was bittersweet having her on shift because I knew she was going to be such a gem to spend time with, but rarely is anyone admitted for good reasons. I will for ever hold a special place in my heart for her. Her smile and energy will truly be missed, but there is no question that we have gained an angel.
