Sunset: September 12, 2023

Angelo Lamont Jernigan, slipped away from this earthly life on Tuesday, September 12th to his eternal rest. He was born October 25, 1971, to his mother, Loretta Rashad and deceased father, Willie Watson Jr. of Norfolk, VA.

Angelo was educated in the Norfolk Public School system and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School with the class of 1989. He furthered his education at ITT Technical Institute in Norfolk, VA. Upon graduation, Angelo worked as a security guard at Waterside while attending ITT full-time. He later secured a position at CSX Transportation as a Signalman and continued employment with the company for 17 years until his passing.

He wanted to take a different path in life, and so he joined Cavalry Revival Church at a young age and accepted Christ in his life.

In August 2004, Angela met the love of his life, Anita Murray, when he was introduced to her through a mutual friend, Vernon Griffin. Four months later, he proposed to her in December of the same year. They married in June 2005. Two years later, their first and only son, Michael Angelo, was born July 10, 2007. He was his son’s number one fan and wanted him to do and be a better person than him. Michael described his father as inspirational because of his constant encouraging words.

Angelo was a diehard Denver Broncos’ fan since John Elway, a former quarter back of the team, a Lakers fan and he loved the Baltimore Orioles baseball since before he was born, which was a favorite saying of his. Every weekend, Angelo spent time with his wife and son at Cinema Café. He enjoyed watching late night t.v. shows such as Hogans Heroes, The Jeffersons, and Sanford and Sons. Angelo took his first cruise last year, was hooked and vowed to do no other vacation but cruising.

Angelo leaves to cherish his wife of 18 years, Anita; son, Michael of Chesapeake, VA.; mother, Loretta Rashad of Norfolk, VA.; brother, Ahmad Salaam (Amanda) of Norfolk, VA.; mother-in-law, Elaine Murray of Hampton, VA.; father-in-law, Joseph Murray of Chesapeake, VA.; brother-in-law, Chris Murray (Teresa) of Chesapeake, VA.; and a host of step siblings, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Ran into you four years ago at the Regal movie theater. God bless you Angelo. I will always miss the fun times working with you down at Waterside. We used to joke on each other all the time. The one thing I can say is how is how much you kept your focus on the word of God, and your good spirit. May God bless you bro. Love you bro.
