January 18, 2021 at 10:49 amMs. Althea enjoyed a strong family bond. She was a giver, well known, well loved and highly regarded and admired. She provided the best advise, compliments/encouragements and gave the biggest smiles. Condolences to the Gallop Family.
Courtney N Gallop says
January 18, 2021 at 8:20 pmOne of the strongest and most steadfast of the Gallop Family pillars has fallen. Her wit, intelligence, honesty, and determination remain behind in our memories- the Gallop women are left to try and emulate her impeccable style and ambition. Farewell Aunt Althea- i was watching you and listening- still remember your encouragement to be fearless, and competitive in business and NEVER get caught without plenty of new pantyhose. She also kept an immaculate house with those freshly bleached bathrooms! I don’t know if I was but she always made me feel like her favorite niece. All my love , Courtney

February 4, 2021 at 4:25 pmTo The Gallop Family-My sincere condolences on the loss of my dear Aunt Althea. She was truly loved and will be sorely missed. I will always remember her grace, style, elegance, and good humor. She was generous, warm, and kind. She and Uncle Alfred “Bud Herman” graciously welcomed and hosted our family for vacations, family reunions, and other occasions. She was a stalwart member of her church and community, and a loving and devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. Rest in peace. In sympathy, peace, and love, Gerda

January 23, 2021 at 9:13 amMrs. Gallop was a woman of tremendous courage and faith. I remember her so well as she lead and guided women of The Norfolk Area Missionary Council. She possessed a deep love for God as well as those she worked with as she continued to help build God’s Kingdom. It was with great sorrow that my husband and I learned of her home going this week. My greatest respect to her son and the remainder of her family.
God bless each of you.

February 5, 2021 at 10:27 amMy deepest condolences to the Gallop family, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Althea Walston Gallop was my Aunt – whom I loved dearly and greatly admired. I will miss her warm smile, laugh, remarkable sense of style, and love for family. During our conversations she would always ask about my 2 daughters: Olivia Ann and Matilda Zuri – affectionately referring to them as “my little Miss Anns” (in memory of my Mother Matilda Ann Gallop, Aunt Althea’s sister-in-law) Aunt Althea was truly a gift from God to all.
With Love, Deirdre

February 2, 2021 at 8:24 pmMy Aunt Althea was the third daughter born to Linwood and Rosa Walston of Backwoods Road, Moyock, NC. For me, my aunt has always been this tall, regal lady that was endowed with this beautiful Walston “drawl”(where the last syllable of a name was always elongated). I will miss our wonderful dinners, long talks, and the sharing of all the family stories. I will also miss raiding her closet for clothes that were too long for me. We all loved Aunt Althea and will cherish her memory. Our deepest sympathy is extend to Edward (aka Pumpkin) and the Gallop family. We are here for you. Rest in peace, dear Aunt Althea.
Pamela Banks says
February 4, 2021 at 12:29 pmTo our cousins Edward “Pumpkin” Gallop, Nikki Copeland Gallop and Keyana Boston, we stand with you in your grief for your beloved mother and grandmother Althea Walston Gallop. She was our aunt and sister-in-law of our mother Pauline G. Jones. Aunt Althea will always be remembered for her love of family. She was devoted to Uncle Alfred who we called Uncle Bud. Pumpkin and Michael were her stars. Her sisters who lived near by were her confidants and BFFs. But her love for family extended to her husband’s family–us. She showed her love for us through her hospitality welcoming us to her home for delicious meals. She attended many family events like weddings, graduations, and reunions. On sad occasions like funerals she was there to comfort us. We will always cherish her presence at my sister Fern’s funeral in Hockley, VA and New York City which she traveled to by
car at the tender age of 93. She was a tall woman of style and class. Aunt Althea loved her church and missionary work. Her spiritual peace showed in her calm demeaner. Aunt Althea will sorely be missed.
