The Life and legacy of Mother Alma Darden

Mother Alma Darden went to be with the Lord after 98 years on July 5, 2021 while she was in her home. She was born on May 27,1923 to the late Alice “Love” Scott and raised by her aunt and uncle James and Fannie Blow of Franklin, Virginia. Mother Darden was affectionately known by many names, Sister, Alma Lee, Aunt Tit Toe, Mama, and Tut. Mother Darden attended school in Franklin, and also attended Booker T. Washington High School in Norfolk.

She was preceded in death by her husband Deacon George Darden and they were married for 62 years. From this union they were blessed with three wonderful children, Marshall, Priscilla, and Patricia, she also raised two of her grand children, Tracey Atkins, and Yancey McIntyre.

Mother Darden worked very little outside of the home, so primarily she was a homemaker. This role for her translated into, a nurse, an educator, an administrator, a chef, a gardener, an advocate for the down trodden, a caregiver, a seamstress, and the most loving mother this side of Heaven. She always tried to see the good in people and strongly believed in treating people the way you would like to be treated. She modeled the attributes of Proverbs 31:10-31 the Virtuous Woman as she deeply cared
about the well being of others.

Her bright smile and loving arms was a comfort to all who met her. Mother Darden came to know the Lord in 1972 after her husband was stricken with an illness. God miraculous healed him and they both repented of their sins, accepted Jesus Christ as their savior and begin to walk with the Lord until departing this life. She was a faithful member of Bibleway Holiness Church and remained dedicated until the end.

Mother Darden was truly woman of God, a devoted mother, and grandmother. She leaves to cherish her memory, Marshall Darden(Regina), Priscilla Davenport, Patricia Ruscak(Rick),Tracey Atkins(Dwayne), Yancey McIntyre( Colethia),and Sterling
Russell( Tamika) Marsha Spruill (Elton), Vincent Darden, (Meghan) with over 50 grandkids and great grand kids.

She will be so greatly missed, “well done thy good and faithful servant. “

My deepest sympathy Patricia and the Darden family. My mother Queen E. were both sisters in Christ at Bibleway. She talked about her a lot until her memory started to fade. Not sure if she remembers her now but I know she would want me to let you know how much she loved her. May she Rest In Peace.
