Alice Elaine Walden

Alice Frances Elaine Walden (nee Watford), age 90, went home to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 14, 2024. She was born in Norfolk, VA, on January 16, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Luther and Eula Watford.

Alice graduated from Booker T Washington High School, class of 1952. She retired from the Norfolk Public School System, Norfolk Technical Vocational Center, with over 25 years of service. Until her illness, she was a longtime and active member of the First United Presbyterian Church. She was an active member of the Huntersville Senior Citizen group and enjoyed the Bus trips to different locations, especially the Casinos.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Jesse Walden, brothers, Norman and James McNeil Watford, and her son, Jerome Walden.

Alice’s memory lives on through her daughters Bettie Hines and Joyce Flowers Lee (Gary) and her sons Micheal Walden & Gary Walden. She is survived by her grandchildren Tempestt Flowers, Antwonne Walden, Patrice Miller, and Raven McMillian, and two special nephews, Norman and Clarence Watford of Petersburg, VA.  She is also survived by nine great grandchildren, a host of “sister cousins”  (The Ampeys), her Texas caretaker Jamara Booker, friends & acquaintances.
