Mr. Algy Phillip Baldwin, age 66, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2021 in Beaufort, SC. He was born in Norfolk, VA on February 17, 1955 as the youngest of six children to Elijah Preston and Catherine McCormick Baldwin. Algy is affectionately known as “Baba” to his family. He was predeceased by his parents, wife Patricia Rucker, and eldest brother Emmanuel P. Baldwin Sr.
Algy is survived by his three children, a son Curtis (Turkessa) Epps of Beaufort, SC, a son Demetrius Talbert, and daughter Lena S.M. Baldwin Weddle both of Northern VA; 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He will be missed by his beloved siblings: sisters Lena M. Baldwin (Earl) Parrish of Falls Church, VA, Synovia G. Baldwin Perkins of Manassas, VA, Dr. Defloris M. Baldwin of Atlanta, GA; sister-in-law Linda Baldwin of Augusta, GA; and brother Walla (Sandra) Baldwin of Maryland. Algy shared heartfelt love and laughter with his nieces, nephews, and cousins. Algy bravely volunteered to serve in the US Army during the Vietnam era, and he was an all-American football fan largely supporting the Green Bay Packers.
