Alethia B. Spivey affectionately known as “Ollie” was born in Nansemond County, VA on February 28, 1939. She accepted Christ at an early age where she was a member of Union Baptist Church, Shoulders Hill. Ollie was educated at Crestwood High School and furthered her education in nursing. She worked in the nursing field for many years and earned her Certification as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant). For 25 years she provided excellent care at Autumn Care Nursing Home in Portsmouth, VA. After retirement she went on to provide private nursing care services where she impacted many lives by giving them comfort, love and overall care with dignity. Because of her caring nature with patients, she was well known by many patients and their caregivers who were impressed with the care she provided. Nursing was a gift granted directly to “Ollie” who willingly accepted the calling and dedicated the majority of her life to caring for others. The memories of her life will always be cherished by her five children, Lavon, Leonard, Bryant, Sherry and Shelia; her brother, Willie Battle Jr. (Rita) and the “Loves of Her Life” her six grandchildren, Katron, Chavez, Montez, Lonnell, Tyra and Tori; her nine great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends who adopted her as their mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Doretha and Willie Battle; brother, Linwood Roberts (Dora) and her sister, Evelyn Willis (Cliff).
