Alejandro Capehart

Sunrise: August 8, 1974

Sunset: October 6, 2021

Alejandro “Al”, “Aloe”, “Loe” Capehart departed this life on Wednesday October 6, 2021.  He was preceded in death by his Mother Gloris Teen Capehart Anderson, his Maternal Grandparents Marcellus & Mary Parker and Paternal Grandparents Roosevelt and Eula Jernigan and his brother Anthony Jernigan. He leaves to carry his legacy: his wife JoShirlon Capehart. Children Talisha, Tahj and Alejandro Jr. His Father Robert Jernigan(Lois). One Sister Danna R. Capehart. Two Brothers Kenny Jernigan and Tyrone Jernigan. A Special Nephew who was more like a son, Cartello “Cotton” Capehart. Three Uncles George, Calvin and James Jernigan. Two Aunts Louise Spivey and Sarah Parker. Mother In- Law Lucy Hargrove Hudson. Three Sisters In law Peggy, Cornelia (Reggie) and Jeanne (Demetric). The Horsemen who he is bonded with for life Eugene Blowe, Darryl Moore and Montgomery Wills IV. Two lifetime little brothers Daryl “Digga” Smith and Wesley “House” Tilghmon. There are so many more as he has a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, godchildren and Friends who he loved dearly.

Al loved his family. He and his wife of 17 years had grown and matured  together over the years building a foundation and a family.  He wanted his children to be and do everything that he wasn’t and that he didn’t do. He was so proud of them and talked about them every opportunity that he was given. He loved his nieces and nephews and had a special bond with each of them. He looked up to his big sister and picked her brain for information. He enjoyed time sitting on the porch hanging with his “Pop”. He pushed everyone that he came in contact with dropping knowledge and telling them to keep da change.  Al was the life of the party and he never met a stranger. He embraced people and met them where they were. He loved to make people laugh. If you couldn’t take a joke you couldn’t be his friend. To know him is to love him. His personality, his smile, his knowledge, his heart and his presence was big.

Al was a proud and dedicated employee at Cox Communications. He was a Freelance Photographer/ Historian and proud Maury High School Alumni. He developed a love for photography in 2007. The mostly self taught photographer learned concepts and techniques in Photography at Tidewater Community College and while working for Canon.  Al has several philosophies on photography. “Photography is my opportunity to document history in light” and his most noted being “the equipment is not the key but the key is in the “eye” of the photographer”. Al strived to highlight the subjects best light and capture the energy of the moment in each picture uniquely. His love of photography birthed his concept “Our eyes seeing the best you”. For Al photography was an expression of his love for light and most of the time that light is reflected from his son who has a loathe for posing but loves to see the pictures.

Al’s love of people, music, laughter and photography will live on through his family and friends. He built a legacy that will last until the end of time. If he has ever shared any knowledge or encouragement with you keep it close to your heart as being able to connect with and learn from him was an honor.

Words really can’t express the pain in my heart that you are not here. If nothing else, you were always funny! You have been a great friend and father and have introduced me to your beautiful wife whom over the years I have grown to love and adore as my family. Although you have fallen asleep in death, my memories of you will continue on. May the God of all comfort be here for Jo, Talisha, Taj, AJ, Cartello, Dana and the rest of your loved ones and friends (1 Corin. 1:3,4). I’m keeping you all in my heart and prayers.

Sending prayers and strength to the family. Al and I started on the same day and participated in training together. I affectionately called him “Mr. Customer Service” because he was always smiling and he always found a way to laugh. You couldn’t help but be happy around Al. He was the reason that many of us had a good day. I am saddened by his passing. Miss you Al.
