Albert Carmichael

On January 19, 2019 our dear loved one and beloved friend Albert Carmichael passed away suddenly into his eternal sleep  while being transported in the ambulance to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Albert was a native of Norfolk Virginia where he was a loving life-time resident of the Villa Heights Community. On March 20, 1958, Albert was born to the late Hoyt and Alberta Carmichael. Albert was educated in the Norfolk Public School System and was a 1978 graduate Granby High School. Albert graduated in 1986 from the Norfolk Public Schools Skill Center where he received his certification as a Combination Welder. In 1992, Albert received a second certification in Welding from Marine Hydraulics International Quality Assurance. From 1986 until the time of his death. Albert was employed by various local shipyard repair companies using his training in combination structural welding and reflux core. Among those companies were Norshipco, C. T. R. Group at Lionys Ship Repair, BAE Systems and Metro Repair, TIGGS Welding Network, Bay Metals Fabrication Incorporated and Huntington Ingram Nuclear Welding. In 1990 Albert worked until 1997 for the Landy Southwest Marine Hydraulics Company which was housed in to San Diego, CA.

During his childhood and as a caregiver for his mother, Miss Alberta, Albert attended the Antioch Baptist Church located in the Berkley section of Norfolk, VA. In the later years of his life, Albert became a very vocal member of the Villa Heights Civic League and served as the block captain for the 800 block of East 28th Street. Albert was very instrumental in working with his childhood neighbor Mr. Ricardo Givens and his best friend Mr. Andrew McClease to organize the first and only Villa Heights Grand Reunion held in 2007 at the Norfolk City Park.

Albert is predeceased by his two brothers, Hoyt Carmichael, Jr., and Braxton Carmichael. He leaves to cherish his memories one daughter, Nakima Boney and two granddaughters, Tallesha and Takia Larrymore (Hampton, VA); one sister, Carolyn Brumsey (New Haven, CT.); five aunts, Louise Kirk (Washington, DC), Frances McLaurin, Mildred Akiens, Anez Brandon (all of Fayetteville, NC) and Rachel Allen (New Haven, CT;  two uncles, Frank Allen (Veronica) (Fayetteville, NC) and James McKay (Baltimore, MD); and a host of loving relatives, neighbors and friends.

    I am sorry for your loss, please accept my sincere condolences. I hope the family will find some comfort and strength in Jesus promise of the earthly resurrection(Acts 24:15)and the renewed Paradise earth, where death will be no more and no family will mourn the death of a loved one.-Revelation 21:3,4;John 5:28,29;Luke 23:43.     Sincere condolences to your family. Loss of a loved one brings tears and God promises to wipe them away, (Isaiah 25:8) and bring mans enemy death to nothing, (1 Corinthians 15:26) b/c He cares for you,(1 Peter 5:7) May the many hugs and prayers be a source of comfort.
