Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. John 11:25-26
On July 4, 2021, Veronica Perry Moore, affectionately known as “Ronnie”, ascended to meet her Heavenly Father. Ronnie was born on May 2, 1964, in Portsmouth, Virginia. She was one of the sweetest people you could ever meet. Ronnie wore a smile that would light up the room. She had a way to everyone’s heart through their stomach as she was an amazing cook. Her specialities were desserts, especially cheesecakes.
Ronnie graduated from Churchland High School and furthered her education at Tidewater Community College. She found her passion in working with children at the KinderCare Learning Center, joining the Portsmouth School System and furthering that love by starting her own day care service. Ronnie’s love for kids was evident in how she showered her four gorgeous granddaughters and the many “adopted” children who lovingly called her “Ma” and “Pearl”.
Veronica was a faithful member of Holy Light Church of Deliverance where she was a member of the Young Adult Usher Board. Ronnie was an instructor for Vacation Bible School and Children’s Church. She also served as the Wings of Praise Assistant. Ronnie loved her Bishop, First Lady and church family.
Veronica was predeceased by her father, Rudolph “Poppy” Freeman; maternal grandmother, Beatrice Riddick, maternal grandfather, Jerome Ingram and her father-in-law, Alvin Moore, who lovingly called her “his diamond in the rough”.
Veronica leaves to cherish her memory, her faithful, supportive and loving husband of 28 yrs, Kenneth Moore, Sr., who affectionately called her “Pretty Brown Eyes” and “Honey Bun”; two beautiful daughters, Anjl Brown (Joshua) and Kia Moore; one handsome son, Kenneth Moore, Jr.; and two special “adopted” daughters, Jamia Allison and Amber Presbury; four granddaughters, Aja “Lady Bug”, Jurnee “Butterfly”, Dakota “Snuggle Bug”, and Brooke “Sweet Pea”; her dedicated mother, Joann Freeman; doting mother-in-law, Mary Long (Hilton “Pop Long”); several aunts and uncles, including two special ones, Lois Barnes and Evelyn Mason; foster brother, Roland “Red” Reese; four sister-in-laws, one brother-in-law; several nieces, nephews and a host of other family members and friends.
